Watching your area deteriorate through lack of planning, funding and community engagement is no fun. Whether you are a property owner or not, if you live or work in the area, you CAN make a difference!
Let us use the power of social media and the digital age to rally our community and get our voices heard.
It feels like we are the forgotten cousins of Croydon, here in West Thornton Ward with no one really fighting our corner since our former MP Malcolm Wicks sadly passed away. Surely it is time to stand up and be heard? Let's get the councillors & MP who are being paid to deal with our area, to work to our benefit. What improvements would you like to see?
If we as residents, act as if we do not care, why should anyone else?
We have (from a previous census) 17,489 residents, 6,108 households of average size 2.8, spread over 197 hectares giving us a population density of 88.6 people per hectare. With about a quarter of those being up to 18 years old and perhaps too young to engage in local community issues, it still leaves over 13,000 of us to get behind any initiatives, even if only by contacting your councillors from the comfort of your home.
Never has it been easier to be informed and keep involved. It is all only a click of a button away.
A wise person once said, knowledge is power!
